Ideas into energy initiates the installation of two photovoltaic systems on the roof of a school in Moscow
Berlin, October 8, 2019 - On October 2, two photovoltaic systems were ceremoniously put into operation on the roof of a school in Moscow by the school rector, the German Embassy, the Swiss Embassy and the Goethe-Institute in Moscow.
As part of a cooperation with the initiative "Schools - Partners of the Future" (PASCH) of the Goethe-Instituts Moskau, two photovoltaic systems were recently installed on the roof of the Building "Gamma" of the Moscow State School No. 1502. The companies SOLAR23, ZinCo, Hevel Solar and eclareon and the association Solarspar have sponsored the two facilities for demonstration and educational purposes. The aim of the project is to familiarize the pupils of the school with the concept of using renewable energy sources using the example of photovoltaics.
The first photovoltaic system will be provided by the German solar system provider SOLAR23. The plant demonstrates using solar energy with electricity storage as a typical application in rural areas without access to the central power grid, of which there are many in Russia, especially in Siberia and the Far East. To date, these regions are usually powered by diesel generators with electricity. This is often associated with high electricity generation costs and presents the regions with environmental problems. Photovoltaic systems are a reliable and at the same time economical alternative. In addition, the company supports the school with a mobile solar charging station, which can be used, for example, in physics lessons to explain to students the potential applications of solar energy in their own field trials.
The second photovoltaic system will be provided by the Swiss Solar Energy Association Solarspar, by the green roof specialist ZinCo and by Russian PV system provider Hevel Solar. This installation combines the concept of a green roof and a solar power system for use in urban areas where, in addition to the production of local solar power, biodiversity and rainwater retention play an increasingly important role. The use of vertically elevated "bifacial" modules provides a low-maintenance solution for arctic and mountainous regions with flat solar radiation and snow as a reflector. Thanks to the inverter, the optimizers and an app, the performance of the system can always be tracked on a smartphone.
Both systems are installed fully functional on the roof, meaning the electricity can be generated from solar energy to provide it at school for different power consumers. Corresponding measurement technology and visualizations for generating and using the electricity are provided for the pupils for learning purposes. With the support of the PASCH Initiative and the Goethe-Institut Moscow, the installation will be accompanied by an educational film for teaching and the creation of further teaching materials.
